Emerging and long-standing talent goes hand in hand in the Barcelona Designers Collective.
On 5 July, for the third year running, the pop-up boutique of the Barcelona Designers Collective project was opened, promoted by La Roca Village and curated by the Promotion of Arts and Design (FAD) with the aim of discovering, promoting and sustaining emerging talent with an entrepreneurial vocation.
The project’s presentation brought together emerging talent and recognized professionals who have endorsed it.
As in previous years, internationally renowned professionals from different sectors of design and creativity have become involved in the Barcelona Designers Collective as part of a group of mentors presided by Nani Marquina (president of the FAD), with the participation of the architect Benedetta Tagliabue, the photographer Biel Capllonch, the interior designer Lázaro Rosa-Violán, the chefs the Torres brothers, the graphic designer Claret Serrahima, the industrial designer Eugeni Quitllet, the fashion designer Miriam Ponsa, and the jeweler Marc Monzó. All of whom have endorsed the creative talent and originality of those chosen.
The task of mentoring is one of the project’s basic pillars, since it connects emerging talent with the consolidated kind. A task that the professionals who have become involved in the Barcelona Designers Collective undertake with generosity and a clear commitment.

Elena Foguet, Business Director Value Retail Spain, who hosted the event, explained that “the commitment of La Roca Village involves providing talent with the necessary view in the business world in order to allow them to convert an idea into a successful project, lending them visibility and promotion and helping them to manage a sales point, on a platform like La Roca Village, where creators have the chance to interact with a multinational public.”
The more than 60 designers chosen to sell their products at the Barcelona Designers Collective’s pop-up boutique were also present at the opening.
An exclusive and unique space for independent design in Barcelona
The pop-up boutique, which will showcase a selection of over 300 products and the creations of more than 60 independent designers with their own brands, offers fashion, graphic design and illustration, product design, art, handicrafts and contemporary jewelry, thus creating “an exclusive and unique space for independent design in Barcelona,” in the words of Nani Marquina.

What is involved is a space showcasing quality Barcelona design for two months, side by side with top national and international brands: a chance for new talent to promote their brands before an international audience and an opportunity for visitors to La Roca Village to purchase the products designed by new talent based in Barcelona.
Gastronomy, a new creative discipline
In this edition, La Roca Village, official collaborator of Catalana de Turisme (ACT) since 2008, has included gastronomy as a new creative discipline.
