The 1st Technical Seminar on Reservoir Tourist Development was held on 24 January 2008. During the event, Juan Sañudo Marquez, director general of Tajo del Aguila and director of operations of Charming Andalusian Hotels (HACE), presented the renovation project of this country tourist complex, located in the municipality of Algar, between the Natural Parks of Los Alcornocales and Grazalema, on the banks of the Guadalcacin Reservoir. At present, the centre has 15 cottages, 28 wood bungalows, a bar/restaurant, a swimming pool and a broad choice of outdoor activities.

The new project involves the building of a four-star country hotel and 30 cottages. Priority will be given to environmental friendliness and related leisure activities, and the complex will offer the following: accommodation (hotel, cottages), a gourmet restaurant, a spa & wellness centre, leisure activities and outdoor tourism, a nature centre and observatory. Parallel to the Aguas de Algar Hotel project, there are also plans to open the Sierra de Cadiz Hospitality School, which already has the approval of the Regional Government’s department of employment. The aim of the school, under the sole management of HACE, is to train young locals for the area’s tourist industry.
