FYCMA director Yolanda de Aguilar joins executive committee of Spanish Convention Centre Association

The Spanish Convention Centre Association (APCE) has elected its new committee, whose board members include the director general of the Malaga Tradeshow and Congress Centre (FYCMA) Yolanda Aguilar.

Other new appointments include Iker Goikoetxea, the manger of the Kursaal Congress Centre of Gipuzkoa, as vice-president, and Belen Mann, the convention director of IFEMA, as secretary general.

It should be stressed that the director of FYCMA, who was recently awarded the Hermestur prize, is also the vice-president of the Spanish Tradeshow Association (AFE).

In Spain, convention centres host approximately 35% of all national and international meetings – some 5,000 events with around 4 million participants – and generate an economic impact of €1,400 million per year, thus contributing to positioning the country as a top meeting and event destination.

In the last five years, the economic impact of the convention centres belonging to the APCE has been estimated to be in the region of €7,500 million.

Created in Madrid in 1995, the APCE currently has 33 members. Its aim is to represent and defend the common interests of its members in both the public and private sector.
