Madrid, November 12, 2020 - IFEMA has been selected as the Best Convention Centre in the World and Congress Centre in Spain, in the first edition of the World MICE Awards, the global initiative that recognizes excellence in the travel, tourism and hospitality sectors.
For some years now, IFEMA has been promoting its MICE activity, both in the organisation of events and professional fairs, as well as in the hosting of large international events and congresses with thousands of attendees. Specifically, in 2019, the institution hosted 749 conventions and professional events, in addition to 18 large congresses with exhibition; 25% and 125% more, respectively, than the previous year.
Organisers from all over the world place their trust in IFEMA every year, holding important international events at its venues, such as the 2019 ERS Annual Congress, the 2019 EADV Congress, the World ATM Congress 2012 to 2019 and Reale Seguros Madrid Fusión, among others.
Along these lines, IFEMA's MICE activity has also promoted Madrid's positioning in these awards as the Best Meetings Tourism Destination in Europe, an award it has won for the third year running, and which highlights the Spanish capital's business tourism offerings compared to other major European cities, such as Barcelona, Vienna, Paris and Berlin.
