With this designation, IFEMA receives important institutional support for the International Tourism Fair, for its work in favour of the dynamisation and recovery of Tourism

The recognition of an Event of Exceptional Public Interest (AEIP), included in the General State Budget for 2021, and which will be valid for three years, will be an instrument of special support because of the benefits it brings, and because of the boost it will give to the revitalization of the industry and the tourist image of Spain.

Madrid, 15 January 2021.- With the firm support of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, IFEMA has been declared an "Event of Exceptional Public Interest" for FITUR, which represents important backing from the Public Administration for the work and impact that the International Tourism Trade Fair has on the recovery of an industry that is vital to Spain's economy. The next edition, which will be held on extraordinary dates, from 19 to 23 May this year, as a result of the current situation, will be a Special Tourism Recovery edition.

The Event of Exceptional Public Interest, included in the General State Budget for 2021, came into force on 1 January 2021 and will be valid for three years, until 31 December 2023, as published in Law 11/2020 of 30 December on the General State Budget for 2021.  In addition to the benefits of this recognition by the Government, the consideration of FITUR AEIP is an important lever for promoting and encouraging the recovery of the market, and boosting and revitalizing Spain's tourism image. Thanks to this legal figure, the participation of the private sector in FITUR will be promoted, in a critical edition for the national tourism industry, and it will contribute to strengthening public-private cooperation links, gathering the support of companies towards this same objective that such extraordinary results have already been obtained in other areas of the economy.

The central purpose and contents of "FITUR Special Tourism Recovery", on which IFEMA is working, will revolve around the need to revitalise our national industry to strengthen its leadership position, its management capacity, its strength as a pillar of the economy, and its intelligence for innovation and sustainability. In this context, it is worth highlighting the weight acquired by FITUR over its 40-year history, confirming itself as one of the most effective tools for promoting, developing, innovating and boosting the tourism industry in our country.

After a year of extreme complexity for the tourism industry, FITUR Special Tourism Recovery will therefore be the opportunity to join forces and objectives towards the common goal of reviving tourism in Spain, in an unprecedented and vitally important edition, which five months from its celebration already has strong institutional and business support.
