The Tapas Contest, one of the oldest in Spain, was one of the offerings featuring in the convention bureau’s presentation, in collaboration with the Café and Bar Association.
Last September, Zaragoza Congresos organized a presentation in Barcelona with the aim of showcasing its MICE offerings. The event was attended by representatives of events agencies and PCOs, as well as specialized media.
During the presentation in Barcelona, Zaragoza Congresos, in collaboration with the Café and Bar Association, highlighted the city’s cuisine, above all as regards tapas, as one of its most outstanding offerings, putting the accent on the Tapas Contest, one of the oldest in Spain.
Zaragoza Congresos was accompanied by some of its members, representing the private sector in Saragossa and related to the meeting and event industry.
An optimistic year as regards congresses
In 2015, the city hosted 462 events with 104,000 delegates and an economic impact of €42,596,250, excellent figures that gave grounds for optimism as regards 2016. This year, Saragossa has hosted a number of major congresses, such as the Veterinary Specialties (with over 900 delegates), the World Hydrogen Energy Conference (with 800 experts from all over the world), the National Congress of the Spanish Society of Family and Community Pharmacy (SEFAC) (1,000 delegates), the National AEDV Congress (2,000 delegates), and the Agility World Championship (with over 5,000 participants), among others.
During the rest of the year, the city will host other major congresses, including the National Clinical Lab Congress (1,500 delegates), the Heart Disease Congress (3,000 delegates), and that of the Spanish Society of Internal Medicine (2,000 delegates).
These results show that Saragossa continues to consolidate its position in the MICE industry, and are also an excellent example of public-private partnership as the most suitable and effective way of promoting the city as an event destination.
All this has been endorsed in recent opinion polls by the organizers who have chosen Saragossa as a destination and by the delegates visiting the city. Specifically, their degree of satisfaction with the city and the event that they attended was 8.65 and 8.77 out of 10, respectively.
