VisitScotland Business Events will showcase both innovation and tradition at this year’s IMEX, by combining the best of Scottish design in technology and clothing.
Thanks to their new virtual reality app (ScotlandVR), visitors to VisitScotland’s stand will be able to immerse themselves in Scotland’s remarkable landscape in Stereoscopic 3D using Google Cardboard headsets.
ScotlandVR allows event planners and their clients to experience 26 famous Scottish attractions – including popular event venues - from wherever they are in the world. Imagine a gala dinner as you wander virtually through the Grand Gallery at the National Museum of Scotland, explore the architecturally inspiring Riverside Museum in Glasgow (ideal for drinks receptions) or simply fly high above famous Scottish sights like Edinburgh Castle, the Forth Bridges or the famous Kelpies in Falkirk. Clients can be transported to Scotland through 360 degree photos and videos, making it easier than ever to sell Scotland as a destination and bringing to life the unique variety of experiences and landscape that Scottish hospitality has to offer.
Each day at IMEX, the first lucky ten visitors to VisitScotland’s stand who have downloaded the ScotlandVR app will receive a free headset on request to enjoy Scotland from home or work.
In contrast to this, Scotland’s oldest bespoke tailors, Stewart Christie & Co, will also be demonstrating their creative flair, local fabrics and modern manufacturing design thanks to a pop up shop on the stand where delegates can try on their highly-desirable hats and jackets. Delegates will be able to enter a competition to win a luxury break to Scotland to be fitted for a tweed jacket in their Edinburgh store.
Amanda Ferguson, Senior Marketing Manager, UK & Europe said: ‘Scotland is known throughout the world for its pioneering spirit, its cutting edge research and as a home for innovation. Combined with our wonderful landscape, history and heritage it makes Scotland an unbeatable destination for hosting business events and incentives. Whatever industry IMEX delegates represent, they will find connections with Scotland that will be relevant to their business priorities and resonate with the agenda of their meeting, conference or event.’
