Feria Valencia’s event centre is the venue chosen to host the 2016 edition of the European Blood and Marrow Transplantation Congress, an annual event organized by the European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT).
Scheduled to be held from 2-6 April, the congress will occupy the Event Centre, Hall 6, plus another hall as yet to be confirmed, of Level 2 of the complex’s exhibition facilities.
Around 3,500 health professionals from 80 countries are expected to attend the congress –based on the attendance figures registered in 2012 – generating revenues in the region of €4 million for the city of Valencia.
A total of 25 function rooms (seating from 10-2,500 people) have been set aside for the congress’ full programme. Furthermore, 2,500sqm of facilities will be used for the congress’ poster sessions and another 4,000sqm for exhibition purposes, according to information supplied by the organizers.
A non-profit organization founded in 1974, the aim of the European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT) is to provide scientists and doctors involved in clinical marrow transplantation with a platform for exchanging experiences and conducting joint research. EBMT also stands out for its efforts to promote all aspects related to hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, including basic and clinical research, training, normalization, quality control and certifying transplant procedures.
The choice of Feria Valencia’s event centre as the venue for EBMT’s 2016 congress confirms the internationalization strategy that the facility implemented a few years ago.
