The first of these events to take place will be the 2nd International Conference on Alzheimer’s Disease & Dementia, starting after the World Alzheimer’s Day. The congress, whose aim is to serve as a forum for researchers, scholars and scientists from all over the world for sharing experiences and disseminating the results of research into neurodegenerative diseases, will be attended by some of the world’s top authorities from the Mayo Clinic (EE.UU.) and the Universities of Wisconsin, Florida, Stanford (EE.UU.) Bologna (Italy), and Manchester (UK), among others.

Another five events will be held simultaneously: the 3rd International Conference and Exhibition on Nutrition & Food Sciences; the 4th International Conference on Vaccines & Vaccination; the 3rd International Conference on Clinical Microbiology & Microbial Genomics; the 3rd International Summit on GMP, GCP & Quality Control; and the 3rd International Conference on Tissue Science & Regenerative Medicine.

The congress centre’s agenda for the 4Q also includes the Climate-KIC Innovation Festival, addressing sustainable growth and climate change, and IEEE Sensors, revolving around sensor and biosensor technology.

As regards national events, the congress centre will also be hosting a number of the country’s major medical and healthcare congresses, such as the 28th National Congress of the Spanish Association of Outpatient and Primary Healthcare Paediatrics and the 66th Annual Meeting of the Spanish Society of Neurology, which alone will generate over 11,000 hotel nights and an economic impact in the region of €4 million.

Valencia’s current ranking

According to the Union of International Associations, Valencia is currently the third most popular destination as regards the number of international congresses hosted, and the fifth most popular European destination, excluding capital cities. The city is ranked in the same position as last year and, together with Madrid and Barcelona, has a 77% market share of all meetings held in Spain, at a considerable distance from the rest of the country’s destinations. Likewise, the International Association of Congresses and Conventions’ (ICCA) statistics for 2013 also rank the city in the same position, predicting a 55% growth over the next 10 years. In short, Valencia currently ranks above cities such as Dubai, New York, San Francisco, Moscow, Chicago, St Petersburg and New Delhi.
