The Costa Blanca has a strong presence on TUIncentivo, the website Ultramar Event Management created to allow planners to design a bespoke incentive trip in four easy steps.
At a press conference held during the recent edition of FITUR, Ultramar Event Management, TUI Travel PLC's Spanish MICE division, accompanied by the Provincial Government of Alicante, presented the progress and results of a joint action plan, implemented in 2010, aimed at positioning the Costa Blanca as a MICE destination. Franck Barbaras, CEO of Ultramar Event Management, Joaquin Ripoll, President of the Alicante Regional Government, and Gema Amor, CEO of the Costa Blanca Tourism Board, took stock of the actions carried out in 2010 and summarized those planned for 2011.
This agreement envisages giving the Costa Blanca high-profile coverage as a MICE destination in the company's different platforms and, starting in 2011, including it as a preferred destination, with its own microsite, on TUIncentivo.com. This platform was created by Ultramar Event Management so as to provide in-house corporate incentive planners with the opportunity to create a bespoke proposal in an agile and efficient manner. In four easy steps, clients can create a complete programme adapted to their budget. Each destination included in the platform has a choice of hotels, restaurants and activities, so in addition to promoting the destination itself, local service providers also obtain increased visibility.
The Regional Government of Alicante is to date delighted with the results of the agreement, since it is helping to position the destination in national and international markets. On being a less seasonal type of tourism, it ought to help to make the most of the city's resources throughout the year, thus complementing traditional tourism.
