On 11 August, the awards ceremony of the Association of Chefs and Pastrycooks of the Costa del Sol was held at the Torrequebrada Hotel’s Fortuna Ballroom.

The event included an excellent show performed by the Carmen Mota’s Spanish Ballet at the Torrequebrada Hotel’s Fortuna Ballroom, where the awards ceremony took place after dinner.

Salvador Pendon, president of the Provincial Government and Tourism Board, received the highest award – the gold and diamond badge – for the continuous effort he has made to improve the local tourist industry, above all as regards restaurants and recuperating Malaga’s traditional cuisine and products.

Pendon also attended the presentation of the Teodoro Gonzalez Gutierrez Prize, which this year was awarded to the Adolfo restaurant. Given to the best restauranteur serving Andalusian cuisine, the prize was created to acknowledge all those professionals dedicated to the tourist industry and the restaurant sector.

ACYRE’s board of directors introduced this award to lend the association’s support to up-and-coming professionals, promote Andalusian produce, and acknowledge the work of public and private bodies in favour of Malaga cuisine. The award takes its name from Teodoro Gonzalez Gutierrez, the association’s founder, winner of the National Cooking Award in 1975, and holder of the Gold Medal of the Costa del Sol and the Work Merit Medal.
