On 1 February, the Torremolinos Congress Centre will open a function room reserved for smokers, the first of its kind in Spain.
With a seating capacity of 50-150 people, this new function room – which does not clash with the new non-smoking ban – will allow the centre to broaden its MICE services.
Back in 2006, the Torremolinos Congress Centre pioneered the introduction of a smoking area in its cafeteria, which now cannot be used due to the new non-smoking ban.
Nevertheless, the centre has again implemented a pioneering inititaive. "The idea is to make the most of the legislation currently in force," explained Luis Callejon, managing director of the centre, hence the decision to create a function room for smokers.
Callejon also inidicated that the new legislation allows the centre to introduce this new service, aimed at "attracting planners interested in organizing prohibition-free meetings and events."
