Thirty New Properties Expected to Open in Marrakech in Next 15 Months

Marrakech continues to consolidate its position as a leading tourism and MICE destination in North Africa.



Featuring among the hotels that have opened or are scheduled to open this autumn or in 2013 are the Delano Marrakech, the Baglioni Marrakech and the Taj Palace Marrakech.



The Delano Marrakech, belonging to the Morgans Hotel Group, was opened on 21 September. This lovely boutique hotel, extremely well located in the heart of l’Hivernage, next to Sofitel and l’Hivernage & Spa Hotel, not far from La Mamounia, has 71 rooms and suites. The property’s interiors are by famous French designer Jacques Garcia, and its fine French and Italian dining by Michelin star chefs. The beautiful Sky Lounge bar and restaurant with a spectacular 360° view of the whole city, the Pearl Spa with a subterranean mosaic pool, beauty salon and fitness centre with private trainers available on request are just some of the property’s top offerings. As to events, the Delano features a roof-top loft meeting space for up to 130 guests, with state-of-the-art audio, video and telecommunication capabilities, in addition to high-speed Wi-Fi access in meeting room and lobby areas.

Due to open on the 1 December, the Taj Palace is a palatial desert oasis featuring 161 spacious, well-appointed guest rooms, including 25 luxurious suites, located in the magnificent main palace and four exclusive riads. All rooms and suites enjoy stunning views of the Atlas Mountains, the Palmeraie desert landscape or the calming pool and gardens. The largest in the city, the 80sqm plus rooms are exquisitely decorated and equipped with daybeds.

Scheduled to open in 2013, the Baglioni Marrakech is a charming boutique hotel located in 14 acres of parkland. The hotel features stylish 40sqm plus rooms, gourmet restaurants with private dining rooms, lounges and bars, a wide range of function rooms, private terraces, gardens and swimming pools with sweeping views of the Atlas Mountains, and the 1,800sqm Sixth Sense Spa.

More flights to Marrakech

British Airways has resumed its flights to Marrakech, and Lufthansa is now flying twice a week from Berlin and Dusseldorf to Marrakech. In addition, RAM will begin to operate a new route from London Gatwick to Casablanca on 23 March 2013 and from Copenhagen and Stockholm from April 2013.



Festivals:

Scheduled to be held from 30 November-11 December 2012, the jury of the 11th edition of the Marrakech Film Festival will be presided byJohn Boorman. This year’s edition of the festival will pay special tribute to the Indian film industry, celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.
