Seville has been chosen to host the 3rd edition of the Mercartes Performing Arts Fair, which is due to be held at the city’s trade show and congress centre from 19-21 November 2008. Organised by the Public Theatre, Auditorium, Tour and Festival Network, the State Federation of Theatre and Dance Company Associations, the Spanish State Co-ordinator of Performing Arts Fairs, and Seville’s Trade Show and Congress Centre (FIBES), the fair’s organisers hope surpass the milestone of the 1,000 trade professionals attending the 2006 edition. A biannual event, Mercartes aspires to become Spain’s leading performing arts fair involving the industry as a whole and promoting its products worldwide.
Mercartes is a professional event showcasing the latest products of Spain’s performing arts industry, bringing together public and private agencies involved in its different facets: creation, production, distribution, screening and promotion. In short, it is an event that fosters B-to-B exchanges and facilitates further developments in the Spanish performing arts industry.
Mercates 2008 will bring together the representatives of performing arts companies, production companies, managers and programmers of performing arts venues, technical and auxiliary service providers, government agencies, experts, mass media, and other people involved in the industry.
Parallel programme
From 19-21, the fair will include a varied parallel programme with keynotes on topical and interesting subjects for those involved in the performing arts industry. In addition, different artistic, business and association projects will be presented.
Those participating in Mercartes 2008 will also be able to visit the city’s nightlife venue for networking in a more leisurely atmosphere.
