Third Edition of Greencities to Feature World-class Conference Programme

"Greencities & Sostenibilidad", the 3rd edition of the Energy Efficiency in Buildings and Urban Spaces Show, will feature a conference and panel discussion programme with top keynote speakers.



Scheduled to be held at the Malaga Tradeshow and Congress Centre (FYCMA) from 7-9 November, the event will include a conference and panel discussion programme, geared to industry professionals, with top keynote speakers who will address current issues related to mobility, energy efficiency, and sustainable building. Keynote speakers will include the engineer Norela Constantinescu, from the European Commission Directorate-general for Energy, who will deliver the keynote address "Smart Cities and Communities – EU Perspective", covering the future projects and proposals of the European Association for Creativity and Innovation.



The said keynote will form a part of the strand dedicated to energy efficiency. In addition, the programme will also include the following strands: mobility, environment, building and smart cities, totalling 20 keynotes, with the sponsorship of some of the industry’s leading companies, such as Endesa and Telvent Schneider, among others.



Furthermore, those participating in the event will have the chance to attend conferences delivered by other industry professionals, including Harry Verhaar, global director of governmental and public affairs of Philips Lighting, and Florencio Manteca, director of the building energy department of the National Centre of Renewable Energy (CENER), whose keynote will address rehabilitation from the standpoint of energy saving and the bioclimatic behavour of buildings.



Likewise, the programme will include the presentation of international projects, such as "Zem2All" and "Green e-Motion"; and discussions on current issues such as the new European Directive of the RAE, technical-energy viability in sustainable building, the Spanish Network of Smart Cities (RECI), the future of energy efficiency in Spain, and smart cities.



Along these lines, Maria del Mar Martin, counsellor of the department of economy, inland revenue and personnel of Malaga City Council, has stressed the fact that the event will hosted in a city like Malaga "that has positioned itself as a benchmark city as regards energy efficiency, as well as having been acknowledged as one of the country’s ’smart cities’ thanks to its degree technology adoption."



Scientific programme and 1st Biennial of Sustainable Building Projects

Moreover, "Greencities & Sostenibilidad" will also include a new scientific programme to which over 40 papers have been submitted by academics, researchers, doctorate students, professionals and experts, and which are currently being assessed by the scientific committee.



New features will include the 1st Biennial of Sustainable Building Projects, a joint initiative of a number of professional colleges related to architecture and engineering and the university community, whose aim is to establish a platform for supporting and disseminating architectural initiatives committed to environmental protection and social and economic development.



"With the celebration of this event, during three days Malaga will become the centre of research and progress in the field of energy efficiency", said Martin.
