A large number of films by new directors will be competing in the official section of the Malaga Film Festival, which will be held from 9-17 March. In addition, the festival will pay tribute to key personalities in the history of the Spanish film industry.
New venues
This year, the festival will have several new venues, such as the Plaza de la Merced, which will host Zona Zine, the most eclectic part of the festival. In the words of Salomon Castiel, the festival’s director, the Malaga Film Festival is “a reflection of the future of the Spanish film industry.
Seven venues
The films of this year’s edition of the festival will be screened in seven venues: the Cervantes Theatre, the Albeniz Cinema, the Alameda Cinema, the Rectorate of Malaga University, the Picasso Museum Auditorium, Lux Cinemas (Vialia), and Malaga Nostrum.
Parallel activities
The festival’s programme of complementary activities include special screenings, the AENA cycle, Andalusia Audio-visual, the Golden Film (El último cuplé), and various exhibitions and presentations.
