For the second year running, the Spanish Broadcasting Company (TVE) and Teledeporte decided to include the 2010 Tenerife Champions Cup in the programme "The Best of 2010", along with top international sporting events such as the MotoGP World Championship, the tennis Grand Slams, the Champions League, the Swimming World Championships, etc.
During the Christmas holidays, TVE decided to repeat the men and women's finals of the 2010 Tenerife Champions Cup throughout Spain. In the men's category, the Spanish team formed by Herrera and Gavira – which had never won the tournament – had their work cut out to defeat the Cesc brothers from France. In the women's category, the Germans Sara Goller and Laura Ludwig, the best women's team in the history of European beach volleyball, played their best game to triumph over the Schwaizer sisters from Austria.
Some 150,000 viewers watched the Christmas repeats, on top of the large audience accumulated during the event, which according to TVE's official data – published through the Department of Sports Broadcasting Coordination – topped the 1,200,000 viewer mark only on the public channel.
Although the popularity of the 2010 Tenerife Champions Cup was not only due to TV broadcasting, since the Beach Volleyball Champions Cup also generated a lot of buzz on the Web. According to Google, the number of searches made on keywords related to the event was in the region of 2,000,000, all of which goes to show its enormous impact.

Women's category confirmed for 2011 edition
The fourth edition of the Tenerife Champions Cup was a resounding success in the Canary Islands thanks to the inclusion of the women's category. It is important to remember that in last year's edition the organizers invited three teams in the professional ranking, through the European Confederation, to play against the surprise team in the 2010 World Tour, formed by the Spaniards Elsa Baquerizo and Liliana Steiner. Such is the international prestige of the event that the three best European teams in the world ranking – Germany, Austria and Switzerland – immediately confirmed their participation, thus making for an excellent tournament.
For all the above reasons, the organizers of the event, together with the Royal Spanish Federation, have not only decided to confirm the women's category for the 2011 edition, but also to invite a larger number of international teams.
Dates of the 2011 Tenerife Champions Cup to be announced in February
The dates of the next edition of the Tenerife Champions Cup will be announced in February. In all probability, the event will not be held on the Bank Holiday of the 12 October, as is the tradition, because this falls on a Wednesday. So, depending on the World Tour agenda, the event will be held in April, or failing this in September. The venue will also be announced in February.
Included in the official tournament calendar, the Tenerife Beach Volleyball Champions Cup is organized by the Royal Spanish Volleyball Federation and the European Volleyball Confederation, in collaboration with the event production company Charlie Head.
