This year’s spring season at Santa Maria Polo Club, featuring a new tournament in memory of Maria de las Mercedes, Countess of Barcelona, gets under way with the aim of becoming one of the most important fixtures of the World Polo Tour.
This year’s spring season at the Santa Maria Polo Club will be featuring a new tournament. Promoted by the foundation of the same name and the Andalusian Enterpreneurs’ Confederation (CEA), the Doña Maria de las Mercedes Memorial will be held on 11, 12, 17, 18, and 19 April, which, together with the Conde de Guaqui Memorial (27-29 March), and the Jose Ignacio Domecq Memorial (3, 4, 5, 8 and 9 April), are the season’s main fixtures.
Eight teams, with handicaps from 8-10, from England, Argentine, Belgium, Ireland, Sweden and Spain will be competing on the fields of Los Pinos. One of the objectives of the polo club is to put spring season on the same level, regarding players and teams, as the tournaments held in August.
