The Spanish Federation of Organic Product Companies (FEPECO) is currently organizing a stand for showcasing the country's organic wine at ProWein.

Organic wine is one of the products whose consumption has experienced the largest growth over the past few years. A large number of experts believe that organic wine is all set to become the industry's star product in the future, above all in mature markets such as Europe. In line with this trend, the Spanish Federation of Organic Product Companies (FEPECO) is organizing a stand for around 20 Spanish wineries producing organic wine at ProWein, one of the industry's most important tradeshows in Europe, scheduled to be held in Dusseldorf (Germany) from 4-6 March 2012.

Twenty wineries from different regions of Spain will be joining forces to showcase their organic wines at FEPECO's 72sqm stand. In addition to coordinating the stand and logistics, the federation will also be providing exhibitors with an appointment service with international buyers.

ProWein is an international benchmark for the European and world wine industries. There were 3,600 exhibitors from 50 countries at the last edition of the show, which was attended by 39,000 trade professionals from Germany and abroad. At this year's edition, there will be a special area dedicated to organic wines where FEPECO, together with similar associations from countries like France and Germany, will be exhibiting.

The presence of Spanish wines at ProWein will also be reinforced by the Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade (ICEX), with over 60 wineries from different wine growing regions exhibiting at the Spanish Pavilion. The wineries will showcase their products under the umbrella brand "Wines of Spain," which will also include the country's organic wines.

Germany is the main importer of quality Spanish wine. According to figures for January-September 2011, Spain's wine exports to Germany totalled EUR 230 million (EUR 107 million of which were D.O. wines) and 214 million litres. This represents a year-on-year growth of 11 and 13% in value and volume, respectively.

The Spanish organic wine industry owes its dynamism to the large number of wineries that have begun to produce it. Between 2010 and 2011 the surface area given over to organic vineyards tripled, according to data supplied by MARM.
