From 6-7 July, 80 exhibitors showcased new industry trends at Evento Days, “the event showroom”, organized by Grupo Eventoplus in Hall 1 of IFEMA, Madrid, with the attendance of over 2,600 professional event organizers.
This year, Sono presented technical event solutions based on interactivity. “Interactive technology has enormous potential for engaging event attendees and creating experiences that generate emotions,” explained Daniel Pérez, sales director at Sono.
To this end, specialists in audiovisual integration designed a space combining different technologies.
Interactive virtual stage
This was one of the highlights of the show. The interactive virtual stage made a big splash among the visitors who spent hours experimenting with it. Sono had already made other holographic facilities, like the performance of Queen on the TV programme “Tu cara me suena”. On this occasion, the technology was adapted in order to apply it to an event scenario, playing with perspective and depth. The virtual assembly comprised two high-resolution LED displays. The backdrop was a 3.9mm LED display measuring 4x3m. For the hologram, a 2.6mm LED display measuring 3x2m was used, along with a special film that provided excellent image quality and a high level of contrast.
One of the applications of this virtual facility consisted of a keynote about the Spanish meeting and event industry. This highlighted this technology’s enormous potential for achieving original and novel presentations in which graphics and 3D elements appear to float and interact around the speaker.
Interactivity was provided by a Kinect camera. The production company Onionlab designed and programmed this virtual demonstration for Sono, a play of selectable holograms. By moving their hands, visitors could choose their characters and then the selected hologram, floating in the air, would automatically follow their movements.
Giant multitouch LED display
Continuing with interactive proposals keyed to event presentations, Sono also showcased a giant touch display with different possibilities for interaction. “What is involved is a high-resolution (2.5mm) LED display, with an integrated laser system capable of converting any surface into a multitouch element. Programming via a content management system includes all types of elements: text, images, videos, 3D objects… superimposing them in layers and playing with them to create a completely personalized presentation,” commented Francesc Comabella, technical director of Sono.
Semi-transparent display
Outside the stand, several 31.5mm Matrix displays formed an image measuring 21x3m. It is a semi-transparent display, very similar to a LED curtain, which can be employed to screen textures and messages for decoration purposes.
