Opened on 26 June, the Interpretation Centre of Vilajuïga is the second of its kind in Catalonia, after that of Teià, opened in the summer of 2009.

The Interpretation Centre of Vilajuïga focuses on the important ancient tradition of Medieval pilgrimages, using the village of Vilajuïga as a geographical reference, because of its proximity to Sant Pere de Rodes, an historic place of pilgrimage in the Middle Ages and one of the departure points of the Way of St James in Cataluña.

SONO collaborated actively in this project, handling documentation, scripting content, designing the exhibition area and scenography, and, of course, managing audiovisual production and the installation of cutting-edge equipment, with the aim of creating a unique atmosphere that takes visitors on immersive trip down the ancient pilgrims’ ways, while providing them with in-depth information.

The equipment used includes high-definition projection systems, solid state players, and a variety of monitors. Likewise, an innovative screen, with the latest in sound, allows visitors to watch video footage from any part of the exhibition area. In addition, the Creston control system has been installed to simplify the use of the centre and to save energy.
