Vilafranca has adapted it new museum to the 21st century, transforming it into VINSEUM, the Catalonian Wine Culture Museum, which opened its revamped facilities to the public on 6 and 7 October.

It is important to stress that this is not the definitive exhibition of the Catalonian Wine Culture Museum, although it has indeed been updated and enlarged with respect to the former exhibition. Visitors will discover a new layout with new content full of surprises. Visits end with a glass of wine or cava in the museum’s tavern.

In collaboration with Ara Technology, SONO was commissioned to supply and install a multimedia guide system based on the IPad Touch, including 60 rich media, multi-charge guides.

The flexibility offered by touch devises allows for future software updates. A numbering system – the information access system traditionally employed in audio-guides– was used.

This allows users to access text and audio information, videos and other types of rich media. The software is also compatible with Android and iOS operating systems. Therefore, visitors with Apple or Android devices can download the information using the free Wi-Fi connection in the lobby. Users can also connect to app stores (App Store and Google Play) by scanning the QR codes displayed on posters, which link them directly to the guide’s download pages for different platforms.
