Carlson Wagonlit Travel, the global travel management company, has won the tender to provide services to leading global engineering and technology powerhouse Siemens. The agreement covers the European region, encompassing 32 countries.
Siemens launched the tender process last March with the aim of consolidating business to a single travel management company. Following an eight-month RFP process, CWT was awarded the contract.
“CWT showed a high level of flexibility in meeting Siemens’ needs,” said Thorsten Eicke, VP Global Mobility Services at Siemens. “They demonstrated strong commitment and creative ideas during the entire RFP process, and offered a hub service configuration with a centralized customer support team that combines local needs with regional consolidation.”
“We are confident that, with CWT’s support, we will be able to continuously optimize the service for our travelers and successfully take the next steps toward our Vision 2020,” said James Küng, Head of Global Travel Management.
As part of its “Vision 2020” corporate strategy, Siemens has set itself a core target for 2020 in the area of Global Mobility Services: global harmonization. This will be achieved through a uniform end-to-end process, standardization of travel policy, professional supplier performance management, innovative service concepts, and demand pooling. To this end, it was necessary to consolidate travel management services.
The new service concept will now be rolled out throughout Europe, taking into consideration the varying needs in each country. The concept is based on best practices in the different European countries, as well as on experiences in Asia and Australia, where CWT won the Siemens account last year.
“We will bring Siemens real added value through the optimal combination of personal service and outstanding technology in our multinational service centers,” said Peter Ashworth, Senior Vice President Central & Eastern Europe at CWT.
Siemens is active in more than 200 countries, focusing on the areas of electrification, automation, and digitalization. The company aims to further strengthen its successful business activities along the value chain for electrification while targeting more resources towards the development of strategic growth areas.
