PortAventura continues to be an entertainment benchmark in Europe, recently picking up a number of awards that consolidate its leading position in the industry and show once again the resort’s commitment to the highest of quality standards.
European Star Awards
For the third year running, the specialist magazine Kirmes & Park Revue ’s prestigious European Star Awards has singled out Shambhala as the "best European roller coaster". The attraction, which belongs to the "hypercoaster" category, was opened in May 2012, being ranked in first place as the highest (76m) and fastest (134km/h) in Europe, as well as having the longest drop (78m).
WorldofParks Awards
Furthermore, the specialist leisure website WorldofParks.eu has chosen PortAventura as the "best European theme park", as well as acknowledging its show "Celebration", premiered this year to mark the theme park’s 20th anniversary, as "the best show in a European theme park". Award winners are chosen by means of a poll in which around 35,000 readers participate, and for the fourth year running the resort has been ranked in first place.

PortAventura
Many are the factors that have contributed to the aforementioned awards, such as the four million people who visit PortAventura every year and its wide range of leisure and entertainment offerings. The theme park is divided into six themed areas making for an exciting journey around the world: the amazing Polynesian Islands, colourful and vibrant Mexico, exotic China, the dangerous but fascinating Far West, and the Mediterranean, reflecting the resort’s origins.
And then there is SesamoAventura, especially geared to families with small children. In addition, in May 2015 PortAventura announced its most ambitious project yet: the incorporation of Ferrari Land as an independent theme park dedicated to the prestigious Italian brand, which is scheduled to open at the end of 2016.
The resort features four themed 4-star hotels and one 5-star property, totalling 2,100 beds, three golf courses, a beach club, and a large convention centre capable of accommodating 4,000 people.
Celebration
With the aim of celebrating the theme park’s 20th anniversary, this season’s show is currently being performed at the Gran Teatro Imperial. "Celebration" is musical journey from the 1960s until the present day, featuring acrobatics, rhythm and special effects. The cast includes 16 dancers, two singers and 18 acrobats.
