The event will be attended by over 350 professionals representing some of world’s top international event and marketing agencies.
At a press conference held on 8 July, attended by representatives of the city’s institutions and local firms related to the meeting and event industry, it was announced that Seville had been chosen as the host city of the 10th edition of the European Best Events Awards (EuBea 2015) – an event whose aim is to acknowledge the best European events in different production and staging categories – scheduled to be held next November with the attendance of over 350 European MICE professionals.
All those present at the press conference thanked Salvatore Sagone, president of EuBea, for his commitment to Seville and Andalusia on having chosen the city to host the event and, above all, for his loyalty, since this will the second year running that the event will be held in Seville, the only destination outside Italy to have hosted it. During the presentation, it was stressed that both the city and its province "offer all that is needed to host events of this kind," which also represent an excellent opportunity to familiarize top meeting and event professionals with the destination’s MICE offerings and to serve as a direct link between offer and demand.
The EuBea ceremony, which was first held in 2006, is an annual event geared to acknowledging and rewarding the most outstanding creative event agencies in Europe and their best clients (major international companies) This year, EuBea’s 10th edition will, according to Sagone, attract over 350 trade professionals from 28 European countries, six more than at the last year’s edition. In the words of Sagone, it is a "unique platform for event agencies in Europe," with 163 entries from 81 agencies. The local MICE companies belonging to or collaborating with the Seville Convention Bureau attending the event will have the chance to witness the presentations of the best events. While a prestigious international panel will evaluate the quality of each event according to its category. EUBEA 2015 is scheduled to be held at the Barcelo Sevilla Renacimiento Hotel from 5-7 November, and will combine conferences, meetings, destination presentations with the award ceremony.
The aim of the Seville Convention Bureau, under the aegis of the city’s chamber of commerce, together with its associated companies, the regional tourism department, the provincial government, and Seville City Council, is to "promote the Andalusian MICE industry, a strategic objective of all of the institutions and companies participating in the event." The meeting and event industry is very important for tourism in general in Andalusia, "attracting every year some 1.76 million professionals, of whom more than 600,000 extend their stay after the event that they have attended." It is also important to stress the economic impact and profitability of business tourism, along with its ability to redress the seasonal character of tourism, the "segment generating the greatest daily spending" (€173.47), and with a yearly turnover of €282 million.
