Organized by the Toledo Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in collaboration with the Assembly of French Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ACFCI) and the Higher Council of Chambers of Commerce of Spain, the 2nd edition of the European Congress of Industrial Tourism is scheduled to be held in Toledo from 11-13 of November 2008.

The Toledo Chamber of Commerce and Industry, responsible for organizing the congress, is a pioneering institution in the creation and promotion of full industrial tourism packages in Spain. In 2005, it started up the initiative “Industrial Tourism in the Province of Toledo” with the aim of encouraging regular visits to industrial companies belonging to all productive sectors. This action took the form of the first edition of the Industrial Tourism Guide of Toledo.

In March 2006, the first edition of the congress, organized by the ACFCI, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Tourist Board and the University of Angers, was held in Angers (France), with the aim of highlighting the area’s economic and tourist image and contributing to European expansion through the creation of local development projects. The event registered more than 300 attendees, including tourist industry professionals, public and private agencies, consultants, lecturers and university students.

The 2nd edition of this congress will put the accent on competitiveness and innovation in industrial tourism, in line with the EU’s pluriannual objectives 2003-2013 and the Framework Programme “Innovation and Competitiveness” (PIC).
