A large number of celebrities from different parts of the world turned up at Puerto Banus to enjoy a luxurious weekend.

The II edition of the Marbella Luxury Weekend, which finished last Sunday afternoon, has enjoyed excellent attendance figures.

The world’s rich gathered over the weekend in Puerto Banus to attend an astonishing presentation of jewels, top range cars and cuisine, in which the word "luxury" was the main theme.

The Mayoress of Marbella, Angeles Muñoz, attended the welcoming party held on Thursday, 31 May, as well as the presentations of brands such as Be Rich, Barcelo or Guarnieri. The Marbella Luxury Weekend welcome gala was also attended by local and international celebrities, including Princess Beatriz of Orleans, the event’s hostess, Gunilla Von Bismark, Philipe Junot, Fernando Martínez de Irujo, and Princess Marie Louise of Prussia, among others.

The "four-day" weekend featured a broad variety of interesting activities, taking place at Puerto Banus’ boutiques as well as at the VIP tents erected for the occasion. For instance, boutiques such as Elite, Tourbillon and Bulgari congregated an exclusive audience at the parties that they threw, with the aim of showcasing their new collections.

At the VIP marquees, the receptions held by Gomez & Molina, including a fashion show featuring designs by Angel Palazuelos and jewels courtesy of the jewelers, were among the most outstanding; as was the spectacular party held by Salvatore Ferragamo and La Zagaleta on Saturday night.

Forum La Zagaleta, "Brands and trends", held at the Marbella Congress Centre, was the strategic marketing counterpoint of the activities organized during MLW. Top brand experts from companies such as L’Oréal, Starwood Hotels and Inditex, among others, participated in the forum’s symposiums and roundtables, which drew a large number of attendees.

The weekend’s interesting events also included the presentation of the sofa purchased by Michael Jackson for his last tour, presented by jewelers Gomez & Molina and exhibited for the first time in Spain, and the tasting of "Ibérico Puro de Bellota Gran Reserva", produced by Arturo Sanchez and, at €4.000 per ham, the most expensive in the world. La Pappardella with its "Acrobatic Flying Pizza Show", performed by an extraordinary team of internationally renowned acrobatic pizza champions, was much applauded by the large number of people visiting the restaurant in Puerto Banus.

The Cars and Art Luxury Show, yet another spectacular event, showcased the most exclusive luxury cars and top-level sports cars, as well as the surprising "Gomez Collection", an exhibition of 24 Porsche 911 GT2 hoods painted by a number of plastic artists.

At the same venue, Grupo Guarnieri displayed its principal brands – McLaren, Rolls Royce, BMW, MINI, Porsche, and Fornasari – as well as presenting the Fisker brand. Likewise, Ascari Race Resort displayed current as well as legendary vehicles, such as a 1995 Ferrari F1 of which there are only three in the world. Ibericar Benet Mercedes Benz was also present with its exclusive gullwing model.

Along these lines, the car manufacturer Ascari combined its extraordinary vehicles with a sumptuous menu served by the restaurant Pravda and the haute couture elegance of former Valentino designer Florencia Nahmad, whose models disembarked from the luxurious vessels that Marina Marbella showcased before the large number of guests that turned up at the marina’s Dock 8.

To conclude a fashion and luxury filled weekend, the jewelers Be Rich raffled off to the guests attending the Marbella Luxury Weekend a piece of jewelry worth €800. Furthermore, on late Sunday afternoon, the trophies for the Second MLW Golf Tournament – which was held in the morning at Aloha Golf, regarded as one of the best courses in Spain and highly acclaimed internationally – were awarded. Angeles Muñoz did the honours, before presiding over the closing ceremony of the Marbella Luxury Weekend 2012.

Without doubt, a surprising weekend filled with exciting events that, in its second edition, consolidates the Marbella Luxury Weekend in the international calendar and makes it an essential addition to the luxury sector.
