Regional Government Promotes Andalusia as a Film Location

The Regional Government’s Department of Tourism, Commerce and Sports will step up the promotion of Andalusia as a film location in national and international markets, with the aim of diversifying the tourist industry and internationalising the Andalusian audio-visual sector.



Future projects

The Regional Government, in collaboration with the Andalusia Film Commission, will start up a series of projects, which will cover the creation of new tourist routes covering the locations of well-known films, promotional trips for location managers and heads of production, professional seminars geared to recruiting and training local guides, the participation in key European film festivals and tourism fairs, the organisation of the first annual congress “The Film Industry and Tourism”, and the conducting of studies to evaluate the industry’s impact on the Andalusian economy.



Summary of 2006

According to statistics provided by the Film Commission, Andalusia is the community where most films are made, with a total of 863 in 2006, up 33.6% from the year before. Of this total, 40.5% were Spanish, 46% European, 6% North American and 7.5% Asian and Australian.
