Reactions: a New Way of Working with the Elderly

According to the Spanish Institute of Statistics (INE) and IMSERSO, seven million people in Spain are currently regarded as "elderly", a figure representing 16.6% of the population. In addition, demographic evolution studies show that this figure will continue to increase, reaching 17.2% by 2020 and 19.2% by 2020, when there will be nearly 10 million elderly people in the country.

Evidently, the denomination “elderly” embraces a broad range of ages – 65 is not the same as 85 – and situations: the dependent, people who need assistance, the independent, the dynamic, those who need help, etc.

So as to satisfy the needs of this segment of the population, both the public and private sectors provide the elderly with specialized centres and activities – day centres, residences, leisure centres for the elderly, organized trips, workshops, games, home help, teleassistance, etc. – and a host professional carers.

gottraining focuses on the qualification and specialization of its staff, providing them with an adequate, specialized training in each field – moving and transporting the dependent, communication and personal treatment, laughter therapy, vitalizing activities keyed to the elderly, workshops, postural re-education, etc, – as always in an enjoyable and stimulating way, with the aim of creating efficient teams.
