To mark the celebration of the World Alzheimer’s Day on 21 September, the Princesa Yaiza Hotel has launched an initiative in favour of AFA Lanzarote, the island’s association for families of Alzheimer’s patients.

The hotel will provide its guests and islanders with "The Princesa Yaiza Visitors’ Book," in which those interested in supporting this association will be able to write about their stay or work at the hotel, or their life in Playa Blanca and Lanzarote before and after the opening of the hotel.

To this end, from 19-21 September two tables will be made available, each with their own visitors book, in the hotel restaurant (3rd Floor) and at reception (4th Floor). Next to each book, there will also be a collection box belonging to the Association of Families of Alzheimer’s Patients and Other Dementias of Lanzarote (AFA Lanzarote), where those writing in the visitors’ book will also have the opportunity to make a voluntary donation to this association, who will receive all the funds raised. Moreover, the visitors’ books will be given to AFA Lanzarote for their safekeeping at the association’s offices. The tables will be manned from 7.30am-2pm and from 6-10pm by members of the staff also wishing to do their bit for this good cause.

About AFA Lanzarote

AFA Lanzarote is a non-profit NGO that was established in November 1995 in response to the concern of islanders about the lack of information and resources for dealing with this disease.

The association’s aim is to improve the quality of life of those suffering from Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia, as well as that of their families and carers, and to heighten the awareness of the general public and institutions, among others.

Those people and institutions interested in collaborating with the association can obtain further information about the multiple initiatives, both direct and indirect, implemented to date to help Alzheimer’s patients on +34 928 806 529.
