PortAventura opens Callaghan building

A couple of weekends ago, PortAventura’s Gold River Hotel opened its new Callaghan theme building, featuring 78 deluxe rooms, two of which are accessible to guests with mobility problems. These new superior 4-star rooms enlarge the Gold River Hotel’s capacity, making it the largest of the resort’s five properties.

The new two-floor building has been carefully designed so as to reproduce the lodge-style constructions fashionable in the States at the end of the 19th century, adapting the elements of a number of buildings dating back to that time. Both the façade and the building’s interior feature elaborate structural details, from its architecture and gardens to its décor and furnishings, which blend into the Victorian ambience and style of the Gold River Hotel.

The new building has a private reception area, its own bar and restaurant, as well as an exclusive, independent parking lot reserved for guests. Guests staying at the Callaghan Building also have a number of premium services at their disposal, such as the welcome mini bar, gifts for children and VIP amenities. Furthermore, guests have free access to the wellness centres of the other hotels at PortAventura.

Coinciding with the theme park’s 20th anniversary, the new Callaghan building forms part of a €10 million project. The enlargement of the Gold River Hotel, together with the opening of the Mansion de Lucy Hotel, the resort’s first 5-star property, are in line with PortAventura’s strategy geared to entering the high-end tourist niche.
