For the third time running, PortAventura recently held the children’s party organized by FEDAIA. Under the slogan "Smile for Childhood", the event intends to raise the awareness of society about the need to guarantee equal opportunities for all children, especially the most vulnerable.
FEDAI is a federation of Catalan institutions working in favor of destitute children or those at risk of social exclusion. On this occasion, the 3,000 children of the federation were joined by nearly 2,000 children who participated in the party, together with their families, through a number of charity organizations. Smiles abounded at the event held on Saturday, 18 April. The children had the chance to participate in activities, workshops and games organized by a team of monitors dressed as "super heroines", who posed with them in a giant photocall. In addition, the day ended with performances by the band CLOVER and the artistes Maria Sagana and Jota Martin.
This party is the result of the collaboration between PortAventura Foundation – whose work is centered on supporting projects and events dedicated to children and teenagers at risk of social exclusion for social, health or financial reasons – and FEDAIA. The Soñar Despierto Foundation, "La Caixa" Social Projects, Barcelona City Council, Tarragona City Council, Marc Marti, Rodalies de Catalunya and Cadena SER also participated in the event, organized by PortAventura Bussiness & Events, the amusement park’s division specializing in event organization.
In addition to allowing the children to enjoy a special day out, with initiatives like this FEDAIA wants to highlight the urgent need for implementing policies that guarantee children’s welfare and equal opportunities in the short- and long-term. The federation believes that to reach this objective it is necessary to bring into line the percentage that Catalonia and Spain dedicates to children and family-related policies – 0.9% and 1.4% of the GDP, respectively – with the European average (2.2% of the GDP).
