The 16 contestants in the new season visited the theme park to participate in the first team trial.
Master Chef Junior, the hugely popular programme on TVE, produced by Shine Iberia, chose PortAventura to surprise the contestants in this new season by holding the first team trial at the theme park. In this first fun programme, which was broadcast on Tuesday, 1 December, the 16 contestants participated in a team trial in which they pitted their skills against one another to prepare a seafood menu, typical of Tarragona’s Costa Dorada, where PortAventura is located.
For the filming, PortAventura’s facilities hosted more than 100 people, including the contestants, jury members, presenters and technical team. One of the reasons behind the choice of the theme park is due to its suitability for shooting spots, TV programmes and films, and the experience that it has gained over the years organizing events and film shoots. PortAventura Business & Events’ team coordinated the filming of the programme with different departments, such as catering, maintenance, security and hotels, among others.
The dishes prepared by the contestants were very much appreciated by the show’s guests, including the singers Pitingo and Tamara, the actor Paco Collado (“El Aberroncho”), and the journalist Alejandra Prat. Restaurant services were offered at a number of exclusive venues such as New Texas at the Gold River Hotel, Racó de Mar in Mediterránea, Iron Horse in FarWest, Lucy’s restaurant at Lucy’s Mansion where the programme’s jury savoured PortAventura’s culinary offerings.
In addition to participating in the programme, the children had the chance to enjoy PortAventura’s mythical attractions, which the theme park’s Business & Events division opened especially for them, including Dragon Khan, Shambhala and Sésamo Aventura, where they met the characters of Sesame Street.
The director of PortAventura Business & Events Laura Valdeolivas stated, “At PortAventura, we have collaborated actively with the production team of TVE to make an exciting and fun programme like Master Chef Junior. They are amazing professionals and we hope to have the chance to work with them again in the future.”
