Thanks to its versatility, as well as its first-class facilities, PortAventura’s Business & Events Division satisfies the needs of any company, converting any occasion into a memorable event.
Here are three of the most recent successful events that have been possible thanks to the facilities and team of professionals at PortAventura Business & Events.
Seat, Inside Ibiza
One of the challenges that the Business & Events Division has had to face was that presented by the Spanish car manufacturing group SEAT, which chose PortAventura Convention Centre to hold its “Inside Ibiza” training event, geared to over 4,500 members of its international sales network on the occasion of the launching of the new SEAT Ibiza. This was the first time that SEAT’s central office directly trained the consultants of its sales network and the idea was do it on a large scale, choosing PortAventura’s Convention Centre as the event’s main venue. Over 4,500 professionals from more than 40 countries working for the firm’s sale network attended the largest ever education event organized by the car manufacturer.
On this occasion, SEAT was looking for a sufficiently large venue to host the entire event and thus avoid transfers. PortAventura offered a series of advantages, such as the climate, its proximity to the Martorell factory and, most importantly for a car event, plenty of parking spaces next to the convention centre. Divided into groups, the attendees participated in different activities, including the opening session and the presentation of the new SEAT Ibiza, scenic drives, gymkhanas and workshops.
During the day most of PortAventura’s event facilities and services were used, in addition to the whole of the 13,000sqm convention centre with its 18 multiuse function rooms and communal spaces. For all the programmed events, a temporary octagonal auditorium was assembled in the Alexandria plenary hall, while in the parking lot of PortAventura Park, 33,000sqm were conditioned so that the attendees could test drive the new car.
Furthermore, the attendees were accommodated at the PortAventura and Caribe Hotels, and the terraces of the exclusive Lumine Beach Club were chosen to host the cocktail party and dinner, followed by live music.
The Coca-Cola spirit
For the first time since its creation, the Coca-Cola’s Western Europe division brought together 600 of its employees. Attended by the multinational’s top executives, the event was held at PortAventura’s convention centre.
To this end, PortAventura Business & Events prepared a plenary hall capable of accommodating 650 people, as well as an exhibition area for showcasing new products. Moreover, two dinners were organized, an informal one at the convention centre, and a gala dinner at the theme park’s La Cantina, which was decorated to resemble a bullring.
The programme included leisure and sports activities before meetings and even between sessions, such as a football match in the plenary hall. In this way, the same venue was used as a meeting room in the morning and as a mini football stadium in the evening.
In addition, the theme park was opened exclusively for the attendees and the convention centre was completely personalized to reflect the Coca-Cola spirit.
The UN Inter-agency Games
Another of the major events hosted by PortAventura was the 42nd edition of the UN Inter-agency Games, which the UN holds on an annual basis, with the participation of over 1,500 people from more than 127 countries; excellent attendance figures compared with the games held in New York in 2014. The participants competed in 13 sports modalities held at over 70 facilities both at PortAventura and in the municipalities of the Costa Dorada, such as Salou, Tarragona and Cambils. The opening ceremony took place in theme park’s Mediterranean theme area.
Pau Gasol, UN ambassador, leant his support to the event by sending a video congratulating everyone for their effort and dedication. The event had an economic impact of €1.4 million in the localities of Tarragona, Salou, Cambrils, Reus and PortAventura, and an indirect one of €2.8 million.
