PortAventura Business & Events close successful year

One hundred and eighty-three successfully hosted events, representing a 16% year-on-year increase.

PortAventura Business & Events has ended 2015 with the satisfaction of having successfully organized over 180 national and international events with a common denominator: that of transmitting positive emotions to the attendees. Companies from all over Spain have entrusted PortAventura Business & Events with the organization of their corporate events. In 2015, PortAventura’s facilities hosted a large variety of corporate, sports, charity and training events, to name but a few.

In May, the UN was in PortAventura to hold the 42nd edition of its Inter-Agency Games, with the participation of more than 1,500 people from over 127 countries – record attendance figures compared with the previous edition held in New York. Furthermore, PortAventura’s convention centre was used as the operations centre for the 51st edition of the RACC Catalonia-Costa Dorada Rally. It is the 11th time that PortAventura has hosted the rally, with over 413 accredited media from 30 countries, which broadcast the results of the rally on a daily basis.

In 2015, PortAventura’s convention centre also hosted the 1st edition of the International Family Tourism Congress, a two-day event organized by the Catalonian Tourism Agency (ACT) and Tarragona’s provincial tourism office, which was attended by approximately 500 trade professionals, including 50 speakers from 25 countries.

Corporate events

As in previous years, a number of national and international companies entrusted the team of PortAventura Business & Events to organize their corporate events. In the technology industry, these included T-Systems, HP and IBM. As regards IBM, Portaventura hosted two of the multinational’s events for over 2,000 attendees. Among the car industry events held, it is worth mentioning SEAT’s major training event, attended by 4,500 members of its sales network during three weeks, on the occasion of the launch of the new SEAT Ibiza.

Laura Valdeolivas, director of PortAventura Business & Events, stated that “2015 was a excellent year as regards the number of events organized and the results obtained,” before adding, “the confidence that our national and international clients have placed in us is a fabulous way of promoting our convention centre abroad.”

Moreover, PortAventura’s facilities hosted a large number of charity events organized by the PortAventura Foundation, such as the 4th charity run, the 5th edition of the PortAventura charity dinner, etc.

Special events

To round off a fantastic year, the popular TVE programme Master Chef chose PortAventura to stage the first team trial, which was coordinated by the Business & Events team. The theme park was also opened exclusively for the players of FC Barcelona and their families.
