The Las Palmas Medical College of Physicians has recently used the venue to stage a tribute to those registered physicians that have been practising for over 50 years.

The Las Palmas Medical College of Physicians has been the first institution to use the Perez Galdos Theatre to stage a corporate event. The city’s new corporate and institutional event venue came into being as result of the creation of the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Auditorium and Theatre Foundation.

The versatile and original venue was chosen by the college for staging a surprise tribute to those registered physicians that have been practising for over 50 years.

Before the evening got underway, the guests were shown the workings and ins and outs of the stage, followed by a tour of this beautiful theatre, completely lit for a performance.

On arrival, those being honoured and their companions were oblivious to the evening’s plans. After being welcomed in the theatre’s lobby, they were ushered into the stalls, where on discovering the carefully set tables on stage, were unable to conceal their surprise.

But further surprises were to follow. That evening, the roles were reversed: the audience – the guests – remained on stage while two musicians performed in different parts of theatre, including the stalls, boxes and circle.

To the delight of the guests, dinner was served by the prestigious Basque chef Rojano, who established himself in Grand Canary a few years ago.
