On 15 October, Pacific World, the integrated global DMC and event management organisation, confirmed a partnership with leading local DMC, Lima Tours, based in Peru.

The collaboration will enable Pacific World to extend their global footprint into South America and build on the local expertise and knowledge of Lima Tours, thus showcasing the destination as a meetings and incentives destination to MICE planners across the globe.

Harsha Krishnan, strategic development director at Pacific World commented: "Peru is rapidly emerging as the leading incentive destination in South America due to an immense diversity of eco-regions combined with an age-old culture, spectacular gastronomy, luxury and international hotel chains with facilities designed for meetings and events, and a high level of safety and security. The capital city, Lima, is establishing itself as a regional meeting hub with the upcoming opening of the Lima Convention Center, which can hold up to 10,000 attendees."

Jose Pedraza, managing director of Lima Tours and country director of Pacific World Peru commented: "Lima Tours is pleased to bring Pacific World to the South American region for the first time. Together we will offer local solutions for global clients capitalising on Lima Tours’ almost 60 years of experience in crafting extraordinary programs in Peru."

With the expansion into Peru, Pacific World now operates in 33 countries and over 100 destinations around the world. Krishnan concludes: "Peru is growing as an important hub in South America and one of the rising destinations in the MICE industry right now. Lima Tours is a long established and renowned player in the inbound travel business in Peru and the perfect partner to assist us in taking our first step in South America."
