More than 1,500 athletes converged on the Costa Dorada to participate in the first edition of PortAventura Challenge Salou.

The only fixture that the prestigious Challenge Family holds in Spain was an authentic sports fest in which the participants gave their all to obtain victory, although the Australian Jow Gambles and the Spaniard Marina Damlaimcourt were the victors in this first edition of the triathlon.

PortAventura Half Challenge Salou attracted professional and amateur triathletes, alike, keen on participating in a half-distance triathlon featuring a completely flat, safe course designed for speed. Firstly, the Half (1,900m/90km/21km) was the top race: a half-distance triathlon, without drafting, consisting of a single lap bike segment, swimming in the Med and a 4-lap running segment. The PortAventura fixture also included a number of short-distance races (1,000m/45km/10km), as well as the AquaChallenge (1km/10km), Junior Challenge and Breakfast Run, in which 2,000 people participated.

Laura Valdeolivas, director of PortAventura Business & Events, stated that it had been a pleasure to collaborate with the sponsors of the event, together with the organizer Win Sports and the Challenge brand, whose excellent reputation precedes it in the sports world.
