Franck Barbaras has been named Meeting & Event, Social and Sports Groups Sales Director of the Open Camp, the first park dedicated to sports which opened on 18 June at the sports facilities of Montjuïc’s Olympic Ring.
Barbaras will be in charge of the MICE Department whose objective is to promote the global development of the park as a corporate and congress venue, using facilities such as the Olympic Stadium and the Torre Telefónica.
Barbaras, who has worked for top hotels and event venues in Spain and abroad, has a long track record in the MICE industry, as well as in the management of convention centres and hotels.
In recent years, he has occupied the post of director of the Hesperia Tower Hotel in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, forming part of the NH Hotel Group, and the event division of Port Aventura and its convention centre.
A lecturer at the ESIC Business School and founding member of MPI in Spain (and currently a member of the European Council of the MPI Foundation), the largest meeting and event association in the world, Franck Barbaras has also pursued his career at world-class companies such as Pacific World Spain, where he occupied the post of director; the Congress Centre of Catalonia, as Sales Director, and the Rey Juan Carlos Hotel as MICE Business Development Director.
In the words of Barbaras, “Open Camp is an innovative proposal where companies can organize incentives and team-building activities for both their employees and clients. Open Camp is going to popular among companies and professional entities alike. Therefore, we are going to launch ambitious marketing campaigns in order to develop the meeting and event market.” For the new MICE director of Open Camp there is another important segment: “We want to foster the presence of collectives such as schools and sports clubs, adapting our offerings to their requirements.”
