The fair, which is due to take place in Madrid from 30 January-3 February, will have a special focus on markets of considerable potential such as Latin America, Asia and Africa.
Organized by IFEMA, the 33rd of the International Tourism Trade Fair, scheduled to be held in Madrid from 30 January-3 February 2013, will attract a large number of the industry’s players. As is traditional, the show will mark the beginning of the travel industry’s international trade fair circuit, featuring a series of different initiatives keyed to boosting business.
With still three months to go before the start of the show, the response by exhibitors in the different exhibition areas at FITUR has been highly favourable, with 92% having already confirmed their participation at the event. In this respect, the fair will provide participants with an excellent platform for promoting and marketing their products.
The show will also have a comprehensive programme of conferences, expert panels, sessions and activities aimed at boosting competitiveness in the tourism industry. To this end, the show’s new features will include FITUR KNOW-HOW&EXPORT, a new forum promoted by FITUR, ICEX and SEGITTUR that will enable tourism companies to present their most innovative solutions in the field of integral tourism management. Know-how placed at the service of the tourist industry constitutes a key factor when it comes to meeting the demands of today’s market and, in this respect, the show will feature the latest innovations in marketing, sustainability, infrastructures, financing, and e-commerce, among others.
Along these lines, the show also will include a number of consolidated initiatives, such as INVESTOUR Africa, geared to promoting Spanish investment in tourism projects in Africa, with a view to achieving a sustainable tourism model that serves as a driving force for development.
Furthermore, INVESTOUR for the Americas will put Latin American participants in touch with professionals from the rest of the world, whilst the Third Hosted Buyers Workshop is aimed at exhibitors who are interested in showcasing their products to professionals from other regions of the world. For the coming edition of the show, the Hosted Buyers Programme has been designed on the basis of exhibitor feedback, with only the most important buyers being invited to take part.
Fully aware that sustainability plays an increasingly important role in today’s tourism industry, FITUR will include a new edition of FITURGREEN, which will have a stronger focus on energy saving and efficiency in hotel management. On popular demand from the industry and travellers, alike, a new edition of FITURTECH has been programmed under the slogan "NextTravelGeneration", which will present the latest in technology applied to tourism.
In addition to the aforementioned section, FITUR will also include a number of special exhibition areas, such as FITUR LGBT and RECEPTIVO ESPAÑA, thus enabling professionals to find the products and services most closely linked to their business area and interests under the same umbrella.
There were 210,877 participants and 9,506 companies from 167 countries and regions at the last edition of the show.
