New Garamond Hosts Tras La 2’s Mejores Miradas 2008 Awards Ceremony

The awards ceremony, which took place at 8pm on 5 March, at the Madrid venue New Garamond, was attended by leading personalities from the Spanish cultural scene. In addition, live performances were given by the likes of Amaral, Vetusta Morla, Dave Alna & Urverk Liebig, Danzu, Telefunken, DJ Floro, and Transfiguart.



Carlos del Amor and Mara Torres compèred the Mejores Miradas 2008 awards ceremony, given by La 2’s cultural programme Tras La 2, with the aim of acknowledging the work of the most outstanding professionals in the fields of art and culture. The award winners were chosen by the public, who cast their votes online via the programme’s website (www.rtve.es/trasla2).

This year’s edition of the Mejores Miradas 2008 awards has been more ambitious than ever, since it now includes all of Tras La 2’s programmes and four award categories: Miradas 2, Zoom Net, Camara Abierta 2.0, and Zoom Tendencias. A total of 14 winners were chosen by the public via RTVE’s website. In addition, each one of Tras La 2’s programmes awarded a special prize to the most outstanding personality, project or institution in 2008.



The award winners are as follows: Radio 3, Especial Miradas 2 Award; Jon Kortajarena, Zoom Tendencias Special Award; Art Futura, Zoom Net Special Award; and Red.es, Cámara Abierta 2.0 Special Award; “Nocilla Experience” by Fernandez Mallo, the Prado Museum’s exhibition “Rembrandt. Pintor de Historias”, and “Tres dias”, were also among the award winners.

During the awards ceremony, compèred by Carlos del Amor and Mara Torres, there was a large variety of musical entertainment, including special acoustic performances by Amaral, Vetusta Morla, winners of the Best Music Award, Dave Alna & Urverk Liebig, Danzu, Telefunken, DJ Floro, and Transfiguart.

Those interested were able to watch the ceremony live on RTVE’s website –www.rtve.es. In addition, the news programmes presented on TVE 2 by Lorenzo Mila and Mara Torres both connected live with the ceremony.



Likewise, the four programmes comprising Tras La 2 – Miradas 2, Zoom Tendencias, Zoom Net and Camara Abierta 2.0 – produced a special on the awards from 9-12 March; and the music programme “No disparen al pianista” is also planning to broadcast an awards ceremony special in the near future.
