MICE Forum retakes the lead in the industry

The leading experts in the meeting and event industry have re-launched the MICE Forum, a platform focusing on revitalizing business tourism.

The MICE Forum was created in 2012 with the aim of creating a multi-sectoral and transversal work group for promoting the Spanish meeting and event industry.

In this new stage, the MICE forum comprises the most important professional meeting and event industry associations, including OPC España (Spanish Federation of Professional Conference Organizers); Spain DMC (Association of Spanish Destination Management Companies); SITE Spain (Society for Incentive Travel Excelence); MPI Spain; and ICCA Iberian Chapter, and is co-chaired by Matilde Almandoz and Luis Gandiaga, representing OPC España, the latter being the executive president, with Juan Antonio Casa, representing Spain DMC as vice-chairman.

Other members of the MICE Forum’s board include:

  • Francisco Quereda, ICCA Iberian Chapter
  • Sandrine Castres, MPI Spain
  • Rudolf Rannegger, SITE Spain

All the representative of the forum are committed to professionalizing the industry and promoting the use of technological innovation at events, in addition to fostering the MICE industry’s sustainable development and a strict resource planning by means of public-private alliances and joint strategies aimed at revitalizing it.

The main aim of the MICE Forum is to create a lobby of experts committed to defending the interests of the Spanish meeting and event industry in strategic forums and a valid channel of dialogue with the public administrations.

With the aim of strengthening the Spanish MICE industry, the forum intends to create an efficient measurement system, analyze markets and destinations, professionalize the MICE industry, incorporate the Spain brand in specific industry initiatives, assessing the possibility of creating a sub-brand for the MICE industry, and participate in the promotion of the country as a MICE destination.
