The prize was awarded to the chain at the 27th edition of Salon de Gourmets, which was held last week in Madrid.
Melia Hotels International has been voted the "Best Hotel Chain" of the year by the readers of Club de Gourmets, the leading Spanish food and wine magazine.
Melia Hotels International shares the award "ex aequo" with the hotel chain AC Hoteles. The award ceremony was held last Monday, 8 April, during the first day of the 27th edition of the Salon de Gourmets, the Quality Food and Beverage Show, which took place last week in Madrid. The "Best Hotel Chain" award was received by Enrique Lezcano, food and beverage director for Spain at Melia Hotels International.
Using the questionnaires included in each copy of the magazine, the readers have voted for the best in 2013, other award winners including several outstanding restaurants and personalities in Spain, such as Juan Mari Arzak, Karlos Argüiñano, and David Muñoz, among others.
