Malaga’s Congress and Trade Fair Centre, together with Malaga Convention Bureau, participated yesterday in the 5th Business Travel, Convention, Congress and Incentive Fair (NexoBusiness), the national meeting place for the industry’s most important players, which was held yesterday in Madrid.
Representatives of Malaga’s Congress and Trade Fair Centre and the city’s Convention Bureau attended the 5th edition of NexoBusiness, an important event held at the Melia Castilla Hotel that attracted a large number of the industry’s intermediary companies, specialised travel agencies and in-house meeting planners.
The joint aim was to promote Malaga as a business travel destination and to attract clients interested in using the city’s congress and trade fair centre as an event venue.
Viajes Marsans
Representatives of both institutions met with more than 60 companies working in the field of business tourism, including the Spanish Association of Business Travel Agents (AEGVE), which organises many events in Spain. They also had a meeting with Gonzalo Pascual, president of the Viajes Marsans travel agency chain and ex-president of Spanair. Viajes Marsans, the oldest travel agency in Spain, is a pioneer in tourism, the business travel industry in particular.
Nexobusinness’ parallel programme included several forums and meetings, which were attended by top representatives of the industry’s chief companies and associations.
The role of business tourism in Spanish online agencies was one of the main subjects of debate. Likewise, the Institute for Tourism Quality, comprising national business organisations representing different sectors and public organisms, held a meeting in which the industry’s present situation and its future were discussed. New products and tourism portals also played an essential role in the event.
