A luxury yacht berthed in the city’s port will be the venue for Malaga Media Happening, a professional event for representatives of the audio-visual and new technologies industries, organised within the framework of the 2008 edition of the Malaga Film Festival.
Malaga Valley e-27 Club
Malaga Media Happening is one of the plans of action designed by the Malaga Valley e-27 Club, a work group comprising the chairmen of the most important companies in the Spanish telecommunications industry, such as Telefonica, Ono, France Telecom, Alcatel, Yahoo!, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Nokia, Vocento and Prisa, to name but a few. The more than 40 chairmen forming this group met for the first time in autumn 2005 in Malaga City Hall’s conference room. During the meeting, they established a number of strategic lines of action with the aim of converting the city into the most important technological hub in Europe.
Three-day programme
This event for professionals only, which will last three days and will coincide with the 2008 edition of the Malaga Film Festival, will revolve around three main activities: a series of conferences on the growth of the Knowledge Society through the media; different meetings between professional associations, with the appearance of some of the industry’s top personalities and Spain’s policymakers; and three galas dinners in which awards will be given to companies and institutions for their contribution to the Film, TV and Internet industries.
ProMalaga
The event has been organised in collaboration with ProMalaga (Municipal Agency for Business Initiatives and Activities in Malaga), a group of local businessmen and the chief institutions and associations related to the Spanish audio-visual and new technologies industries.
