The world champion Holland will participate in the tournament, whose semifinals and final will take place on Malaga’s Muelle Uno on 26 April, qualifying rounds being held in Sierra Nevada the day before.

Bossaball is celebrating its 10th anniversary. This original and spectacular sport combines elements of football, volleyball, gymnastics and capoeira, and is played on an inflatable court featuring a trampoline on each side of the net.

In its first decade, Bossaball – invented by the Belgian Businessman Filip Eyckmans – has caught on in over 35 countries all over the world, including Belgium, Brazil, Romania, Colombia, Mexico, Holland, Kuwait, South Africa, Italy, Argentina and, of course, Spain.

With an eye to celebrating its 10th anniversary, Bossaball Sports and Exploramas have chosen Malaga and Granada to host the International Bossaball Championship.

Several of the best players in the world will be participating in the championship, scheduled for the weekend of 25-26 April. The qualifying rounds will take place in Sierra Nevada on the Saturday, while the semifinals and the final will take place the following day on a court especially erected on Malaga’s Muelle Uno.

Holland, the current world champion since 2013, will participate in this championship, along with Argentina, Belgium and Spanish teams.

With the support and collaboration of institutions such as Cetursa, Muelle Uno, Malaga City Council, Mijas Town Council and the Malaga Convention Bureau, the championship has aroused the interest of a number of international television channels.

Bossaball is a ball game in which two teams play against each other on an original court. Separated by a net each team plays on an inflatable surface featuring a trampoline.

The aim is for each team to ground the ball on the opponent’s field. The sport is packed with acrobatics and twists and turns and is spectacular to watch, since it demands a combination of elements of volleyball, football and gymnastics to score each point.

Furthermore, music is a fundamental element in this new sport, featuring samba referees who do not only make calls but also serve as masters of ceremonies with the help of a whistle, a microphone, percussion instruments and an exotic DJ set.

Bossaball Sports and Exploramas have established the first permanent venue of this sport in Spain in the town of Mijas. Every Saturday, La Cala Sports Centre offers classes and training sessions, by virtue of the agreement signed with the town’s local authorities.

With offices in Malaga and Barcelona, Exploramas is a corporate event agency with over 14 years of experience in the business. The firm specializes in creating, designing and organizing Incentives and corporate team-building activities, as well as adventure and CSR programmes.
