Despite the summer break, the convention bureau’s congress department continued to drum up business in July and August.
In July and August, the congress department of the Madrid Convention Bureau submitted eight bids for new international congresses, involving 21,000 delegates from 2017-2022. Likewise, the convention bureau won bids to host four news congresses, with an estimated total of 6,000 delegates in 2016 and 2017.
Furthermore, the convention bureau’s congress department organized a fam trip for an international company, which took places from 25-27 August. During the two-day trip, the company’s representatives had the opportunity to visit a number of venues, congress centres and large hotels in the search of the ideal venue for their 2017 convention (two events with over 10,000 participants). Likewise, they also had the chance to discover firsthand Madrid’s cuisine and its varied leisure offerings.
