The Madrid Congress Centre consolidates its position as the top event venue in the capital, which for the second year running is ranked 6th in the world as regards the number of association meetings hosted in 2012, according to ICCA statistics.

The International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) has recently published its city rankings for 2011, in which Madrid has held on to the 6th place, with a total of 111 congresses, thus confirming the city as one of the top 10 association meeting destinations in the world. Vienna still tops the ranking, followed by Paris and Berlin, but Spain is the only country with two cities among the top 10 in the world.

The Madrid Congress Centre has contributed decisively to the city’s success on being, for the 2nd year running, the capital’s most popular meeting venue. Some of the most important events hosted by the centre in 2011 included the 4th World Congress on Women’s Mental Health, the 13th International Congress on the Chemistry of Cement, the 31st Coaltrans World Coal Conference, and the 11th European Nutrition Conference.

The Madrid Congress Centre, controlled by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, through the State Tourism Secretariat and Turespaña, has managed to consolidate its position among the world’s top association meeting venues.

With the valuable collaboration of the Madrid Visitors and Convention Bureau, the centre will continue to strive to maintain the city’s image as an international meetings and event industry benchmark.
