The municipality of Lloret de Mar will host TBEX EU 2015, the world’s largest travel blogger gathering, which will attract 800 travel bloggers, online media writers and content creators from 29 April-3 May, thus becoming the world focus for digital travel and tourism writers.
The announcement of the choice of the Costa Brava as the host region of the TBEX EU 2015 Congress was made last Saturday during this year’s edition of the congress held in Athens (Greece), from 23-25 October, which was attended by the local head of tourism Jordi Orobitg, who considers that "Travel bloggers have currently become a yardstick when looking for information about destinations and, in addition, enjoy a great deal of credibility; so it’s a marvelous opportunity for showcasing Lloret de Mar’s tourist offerings."
The quality of Lloret de Mar’s congress facilities, the coast’s tourist offerings and the destination as a whole were decisive factors in the choice of the Costa Brava by the congress’ organizers, who made a site inspection as a result of the bid presented by the Costa Brava Gerona Tourist Office, belonging to the province’s regional government. However, what really tipped the balance was the fact that the city of Gerona successfully hosted the TBEX Europe in 2012.
During the two-day TBEX Europe Costa Brava 2015, which will be held at the Olympic Congress Centre in Lloret del Mar, the participants will attend specialized conferences and share knowledge and experiences. The aim of the organizers of the congress is to mobilize bloggers and help them promote and improve their work, as well as offering support to PR companies and industry professionals when connecting with content creators and to monetize their brands and destinations.
Before and after the congress, the tourism office, in collaboration with local administration and companies, will offer a complementary programme of activities – outings, themed blogtrips and networking sessions – geared to participating bloggers with the aim of showcasing the Costa Brava and the Pyrenees of Gerona, in addition to other Catalonian destinations, so as to continue to position it in social networks on a global scale.
En 2012, the Costa Brava Gerona Tourist Office promoted the 1st edition of TBEX EU Costa Brava in the city of Gerona, in collaboration with the public and private tourist sector, with the participation of 350 bloggers, which generated 147 million impressions in social networks, reaching 28 million people in 63 countries.
