The 20th edition of the Lisbon Travel Market (BTL), which will be held at Lisbon’s Feira Internacional – Parque de las Naciones from 16-20 January 2008, will have 970 exhibitors from all over the world, according to estimates.

In the 2008 edition, the organisers anticipate the attendance of 970 direct and indirect exhibitors and approximately 60,000 visitors. The trade show centre’s four pavilions will be used for the event, with an overall exhibition area of 18,550m2.

MICE

One of the new features of the 2007 edition was the introduction of thematic itineraries – health tourism, golf tourism, cultural tourism, outdoor tourism and business tourism (MICE) – so as to improve the event’s layout and to help visitors find their way about, an initiative that was very well received by the public.

For the 20th edition, four new macro-sectors have been created, the choice of sector being left up to the exhibitors: Destination Portugal, for companies and organizations wishing to be included in a specific Portuguese destination (Oporto and Northern Portugal, Central Portugal, the Lisbon Region, Alentejo, Algarve, Madeira and Azores); the International Area, for official tourist boards and organizations from all over the world and companies that operate abroad; the Multi-Destination Area, for companies and organizations classified by sector; and the Meetings and Incentives Area, for companies and organizations related to the event industry.

Figures for 2007

The number of exhibitors at BTL 2007 was up on figures for 2006, with 120 first-time exhibitors, as was that of visitors, with nearly 57,000. Likewise, the 2007 edition registered a higher number of overseas professionals, a trend that the organisers hope will be repeated in 2008.
